ECC LOCUM VETERINARIANS (SMALL ANIMALS)
JCUVet in Townsville is looking to engage the services of Locum Small Animal ECC Veterinarians to help us to cover annual and study leave and two vacant roles:
-Any periods of time, ideally of 2-3 weeks or more
This is a great opportunity for ECC Veterinarians to experience JCUVet and all that Townsville has to offer. It’s also a great opportunity for experienced GP vets to trial ECC.
There is a lot of support provided by our ECC Specialist, ECC Team Leader and by an enthusiastic and friendly team of Veterinarians. Locum can access telephone support when in sole charge or call for an additional pair of hands if necessary.
We offer a lifestyle roster combination of day and night shifts, on average around three shifts per week. There will be plenty of time off to rest and explore our great region. Why Townsville? See: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ozn5AfVdPf0
We offer reimbursement toward flights, provide on campus accommodation, use of a vehicle or taxi/uber reimbursement, along with competitive hourly rates.
If you would like to join us for any block periods of time, you will be most welcome. Please contact us on veterinarycareers@jcu.edu.au in the first instance and we can discuss this further.

Calling for Locum GP Veterinarians – JCUVet Townsville
While we search for one additional full time team member to join our GP veterinarian team, we are offering the opportunity for locum veterinarian GP work.
This is a great opportunity to experience a new workplace and/or to further build your veterinary skills! We have made numerous successful hires from individuals who have undertaken locum appointments as a safety net to trial a new workplace. We have other individuals who prefer just to locum. Either works for us.
So, whatever your reasons are for locuming, we are looking for coverage, initially for the next three months. Ideally you will be able to commit to blocks of time anywhere from 3 weeks to 3 months, and we will consider repeat visits.
Why not JCUVet?
Join a team that values collaboration, learning and mentorship. Work in a university environment where you liaise with advanced clinicians and specialists and are supported by a 24/7 ECC Department. Be supported by Cert IV qualified and experienced nurses.
With a schedule of 38 hours across 4 days for three weeks; and a 4-day long weekend once a month, you'll have time to explore the tropical wonders of Townsville and recharge.
Our days are worked as 10 hours with staggered commencement times of 7.30am and 8.00am corresponding end times of 6.00pm and 6.30pm.
On a rostered basis (i.e., 1:4) we offer services until 7.00pm on Tuesdays, and Saturday consults 9.00am – 1.00pm.
What We Offer:
· Competitive hourly locum rate (Employee or Contractor)
· Supplied accommodation in a shared house on campus
· Return flights (capped at a reasonable level)
· A friendly team environment and regular social events
· Weekly Learning Hour
· Employee Assistance Program
Requirements:
· At least 2 years’ experience as a GP veterinarian
· Confident, well rounded GP skills
· Positive attitude and strong work ethic
· Commitment to delivering high standards of care
If you are excited about the prospect of gaining insight into the workings of an animal hospital while working in our GP Practice and enjoying our beautiful tropical winter, we want to hear from you!
